About Turncircles
Turncircles is a team of dedicated engineers, innovatively crafting electric motors that are lighter, more efficient and incredibly reliable. Join us in our mission to drive a more efficient and sustainable future.
We are a small company with a narrow focus: axial flux permanent magnet motors, designed around your application, with the numbers published in plain sight.
Configure your motor Talk to an engineerWhat We Do
We design and build custom axial flux permanent magnet motors. Not a catalogue of them: one design per application, made from your torque, speed, voltage and installation space. The stator is printed (PCB or DCB) instead of wound, there is no iron in it, and the whole thing is described by a parametric model that our configurator turns into a simulated motor in minutes. See how a custom electric motor is designed for the process, and custom electric motors for the overview.
The Team
We are a small team of former classmates and colleagues from around the globe, with more than 60 years of combined experience in electric machines, mechanical design and manufacturing. Small has a practical meaning for you: the person who answers your question is usually the person who would design your motor.
Dr. Erik Nordlund
Leads electrical design. PhD in electrical machines and drives.
Marius Blumenberg
Leads mechanical design. Author of our lightweight motor guide.
John Naim
Handles business strategy.
Kaan Ozgen
Leads operations, and is your point of entry: tell him what you are building.
How We Work
- We publish numbers. Prices, lead times and platform limits are on this site, including the ones that are not flattering. See the pricing page.
- We separate simulated from measured. A simulation is a prediction, and we say so. See axial flux motor simulation.
- We tell you when we are the wrong fit. Brushed DC and induction motors are not ours, and a 100 kW motor is an engineering conversation rather than a checkbox.
- We write things down. The documentation, the technical articles and the guides exist so that you can check our reasoning instead of taking our word.
Where We Are
Turncircles s.r.o. is registered in Prague, Czech Republic (company number 10734520), at Václavské náměstí 795/40, 110 00 Praha. We also have a German office. The full legal details are in the imprint. We are supported by the ESA Business Incubation Centre Prague and funded by the European Union, as the logos in our footer show.
Talk to Us
Tell us what you are building: torque, speed, voltage, space, quantity. If a standard motor does the job, we will say so. If a custom one would do it better, you will see the numbers in the configurator before you pay for anything. Contact us, or follow us on LinkedIn.
