Custom Electric Motor Pricing
Most custom motor suppliers answer the question "how much?" with "let's schedule a call." We would rather you could read it at 11 pm in your pyjamas. So here it is: configure your axial flux motor and simulate its performance for free, and pay for engineering only after the simulations confirm that the motor meets your requirements.
Turncircles is striving to make highly efficient custom electric motors affordable.
The estimate on the right is live: answer the two questions and watch the total move. No payment is needed to customize or simulate.

Nothing is charged until you have seen the simulated performance and decided to go ahead. The first two steps cost nothing, the third is a decision, and only steps four and five involve money. If the simulation tells you the motor is wrong for your application, you walk away having spent an afternoon, which is the cheapest way to learn it.

Parts lead times after the design is final
Stators, rotors and structural parts are made in parallel, so the slowest one sets the clock. That is the rotor: we use neodymium magnets for higher power density, and procuring them takes the longest.
Bars show calendar days, with 20 working days drawn as four weeks.
What the Numbers Mean
Engineering is one-off, per motor design. The electrical design is the heart of the job: winding, magnets, air gap and stack count, checked against your torque, speed and voltage. Mechanical design adds the housing, shaft and bearings, and you can skip it if you integrate the active parts into your own structure, as in a naked motor.
Materials scale with the motor. A 60 mm motor and a 400 mm motor do not contain the same amount of magnet, and a pallet of motors does not cost the same per piece as one prototype. That is why materials are a range here and an exact number on your quote.
The €1,960 project management fee pays for a human to run your project and write the documentation. When you work through the configurator app, your requirements and results are already structured and documented, so there is little left to manage and the fee does not apply.

Pricing Questions
Is anything charged before the simulations?
No. Customizing and simulations are free, so you can check the motor performance before any engineering fee applies.
What is the minimum order quantity?
The minimum order is one motor. From about 8 to 10 motors onwards, the cost per motor becomes economically viable, because the engineering fee is spread over more units.
Can I get the analysis and electrical design without ordering a motor?
Yes. You can run the analysis and have the electrical design done without ordering any motor. Materials are not charged for design-only work.
What do the materials cost?
Materials come on top of the engineering fees. They depend on the motor size and quantity, and are usually between €4,000 and €12,000 on a typical order. We quote them with your order.
Do I need the mechanical design?
No. If you only need the active parts, the rotors and stators, you can leave out the mechanical design and integrate the motor yourself.
When is the project management fee waived?
The €1,960 fee for project management and documentation does not apply when you use the configurator app.
How long until the parts are ready?
After the design is final, PCB stators usually take 20 working days, structural parts usually arrive within 14 days, and rotors can take up to 50 days because of magnet procurement. These run in parallel, so the rotors set the overall lead time.
Do the prices include VAT?
No. All prices are in euros and exclude VAT.
